Joe’s Shrimp Marinade


A friend gave me this recipe years ago and told me it was from the personal recipe files of Jo Ann Bass( owner of Joe’s Stone Crabs in Miami Beach, FL).  I have never been able to verify the recipe did actually come from Ms. Bass but I like to believe it did.  It makes it extra special to believe it has a great story behind this delicious dish.



  • 2 ½ lbs. cold cooked shrimp
  • ¼ cup chopped parsley
  • ¼ cup chopped shallots 
  • ¼ cup tarragon vinegar
  • ¼ cup wine vinegar
  • ½ cup olive oil
  • 4 Tbsp. Dijon mustard
  • 2 tsp. crushed red pepper
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • ¼ tsp. pepper
  • Loaf of French Bread

Directions  ( YES, it is really this easy!  The hardest part is waiting overnight to enjoy this but trust me, it is worth it!)

  1. Mix all ingredients except shrimp
  2. Pour over shrimp
  3. Cover and refrigerate overnight
  4. Serve with cut up French bread
